(I am sharing the series with both 4D and 5D XD ! Hope you can benefit somehow.)
Rudolph W. Giuliani served as the mayor of New York City from 1994 to 2001. Yes, it was September 11 of year 2001 which unveiled Giuliani's leadership to the whole world ! His role in leading New York in facing the terrorist attacks before and after the disasters won him both praises and criticisms.
Here, I am not going to discuss the 911 issue but the interesting and inspirational quotations in Giuliani's book Leadership which I have been going over again these days. His short quotations are worth sharing and learning for those who want to be good leaders as well as people who simply attempt to excel in different areas. Let's learn some of them together and of course, try to put them into practice !
FIRST THING FIRST
This 3-word phrase is what your parents and teachers have been reminding you of since you were small. In Chinese, it is like "We should do something which has to be done today within today." An English poet Edward Young got another famous quote you may have heard of, "Procrastination is the thief of time."
Being students, what come first every day ? They are doing homework, revising what you have learnt and practising to make perect. Finishing them, you are free to do anything like reading newspaper, watching news, reading books, doing household chores for your parents and so on. As the NY Mayor, Giuliani liked having morning meetings with his staff as he thought identifying and addressing the problems early in the morning, he would tackle them early.
Go and find out what matter to you and deal with them as early as you can every day. You will find that life is not that boring and studying is no longer a burden as you have spent your time wisely achieving something siginificant every day and, there is still time left for your favourite pastime !
Love,
Ms Joe Chan

ReplyDeleteYup! I know how to do now! " First Thing First " right?
ReplyDeleteI will find out my problems and deal with them as early as I can. Wish I can have a better result.
we are not only face to the examination of our school. We should face to the puplic examination.
Hurray to Jenny,
ReplyDeleteYou're always the first to give feedback, thanks !
You really got it : "find out the problem and deal with them as early as I can" ! Even there isn't really any problem, find out what matters to you and do it first !
Ms Chan :
ReplyDeleteYes! After this 1st term exam I has thought some problems of me. Now I am training myself and do the best as I can.
Grammer is the worst of me. I always want to train my poor grammer. I not only want to train my poor grammer, but also do more and more exercises.( haha - just has learned it today. Is it correct? )

Dear Mschan:
ReplyDeleteFinally,I find out the problem of me and I'm studying on my target.
Although these day I'm so tired of catching up all the subject, I feel really happy that I can do it. I promised myself to concentrate in the lessons, review everyday and jot the notes clearly. I think these are the correct attitude of when I'm studying. :)
Hi Jenny,
ReplyDeleteIt's nice to take your first step but I'm afraid it should be "I want to not only improve my poor grammar but also do more and more exercise" as the 2 clauses share the phrase "I want to" so we put not only right after it, got it ?
Hey Nikki,
I can really see your disappointment and determination but "Rome was not built in one day". Remember to be persistent and remind yourself all the times ! Also, one more golden tip for you : Be more active in learning, asking questions and getting involved in the lesson !
Love,
Ms Joe Chan
