What a month ! With our voluntary service at Arts in the Park and our great team spirit during the inter-class basketball competitions, 4D has realised what a F.4 class should have -- initiativeness, enthusiasm, cooperation, leadership, mutual support and above all, determination !
Big hand again to our basketball players who spent time doing the practices and revising the strategies ! As I said before, you all had won well before the finals ! Watching the match was really enjoyable ! Great job !
So, it's time to set for our next target : the First-term Exam ! Come and show we are not only a class who excel at sports, coperate well, grab every piece of chance to contribute and to learn, we are also a class who know the significance of "Work hard, Play hard" ! Here are some advice for your coming exam :
* reflect on your First-term test results and find our your weaknesses
* set a time-table for revisions, especially for the long holiday which is extremely hard for you to concentrate and be self-disciplined
* setting the timetable, you may try my way : e.g. the order of the exam was "a-->b-->c-->d-->e" --> then I would have my schedule arranged like this : "e-->d-->c-->b-->a" which meant I would revise on "a" a few days before the exam and when the exam went on, "b, c, d & e" would not be so hard for me as I had already gone over them once. I found this method worked very well, even for my public exams. Try it !
* check all your syllabuses, notes and all other related materials before the holiday
* go over the guidelines given by different subject teachers and see if there is anything which is still hard for you. If so, go and ask your teachers
* If you like, form some study groups with your friends who can help each other in different ways. Of course, you have to make sure that you won't spend time chatting or playing when you see your friends
* Last but not the least, set your own targets ! e.g. you failed in 2 subjects last time --> at least get all subjects passed ! e.g. you barely passed (i.e. 50 or 52)all last time --> certain improvement like 60 !

Haha, seems that I am the first person who comments on this post.
So, let me talk about my study plan. First, i think that i will spend not more than two days on playing outside during the Christmas holidays. And i would try to study at home first, if it didn't really work(which means i cannot mainly focus on studying), i will go to the clubhouse myself to study.I think that will be the best place for me.
Last time,i failed my Bafs, and so i will practise more and spend more time to review this subject this time.

I'm going to share my study plans and targets now.I think I will spend two days on playing during the Christmas holidays.I will choose December 24th and 25th for playing.Also,I will study at home.It is because I feel more relax and comfortable at home.These factors let me can focus on studying.I know my Maths is not good in 1st term test,so I will practice more. I will spend about 2 or 3 hours on all the subjects,some sujects such as ACC,Eng,GEO,I will spend more time on them.Other subjects like CHI, I will spend fewer time on them.The place that I will choose to study is my home.I think that I will be more concentrated in my room.
I will do more practices on accounting,and study the notes carefully on GEO.Hope all of us can get good result on the exam.

ReplyDeleteI totally agree with you, Ms Chan! You know, it is very difficult for me to control myself not to entertain in the Christmas holiday! Planning a timetable is a very efficient and effective way for us to prepare our first term exam. Therefore, I will choose 24th and 25th for relaxing. I failed my Chinese History in the first term test so I will study this subject first. The syllabus of English is too much for me to handle, I will start studying English before the Christmas holiday! Although there isn’t an unequivocal direction for me to study Chinese, I will do more exercises during the holiday.

ReplyDeleteHi!Joe Chan.In the lesson, you told us that how to spend time to study is good in holiday before exam. Three days to study one subject. I think this is a quite good time management. Thus I would follow it. A good management and a concentrated learning are one of the important factors to get a good result.
About the Christmas holiday, I think its very horrible. We need to keep a exciting attitude and not waste time. It is too bad. Also, you have said that the coming exam is more difficult than the first term test. When I saw the guideline, I felt shock.
Talk about the latest topic - Music Day,we only have three or less days to train out eight dancers and other classmates. Hope our class can take a satisfied result.

ReplyDeleteMiss Joe Chan's plans are doable, especially the order of timetable. I was also doing this around the examination. Nevertheless, I have something that I think important and which is going to be mentioned.
ReplyDeleteI think student should study in the morning. There are mainly 2 reasons. First, your brain are always clear when it is in the morning. Therefore you can revise the books easily and efficiently. Next, the examination is also held in the morning. When you are used to keeping your mind clear in morning, you will also be beneficial during the exam time because your mind is clear.
It is my method for studying. Meanwhile, human should rest, expect me. I am going to spend about 4 days to play. It may include playing table tennis, reading chinese novels, friends gathering, etc. Do I think 4 days is too many? Of course not. It's because I would be hardworking by urging and the word before refers to 'something I like to do'.
Play hard work hard, this is all I want to say.

ReplyDeleteFor myself,I'm actually not have a suitable examination schedule every year.I think i will try your way but change something such as CHS has many things to remember so I have to revise this subject more days.Set a time-table for revisions is quite effective that i remember one year in primary school i set a time-table and i got a good result at last. However, I'm afraid I can't pay attention at home.I know I will chat or sleep all day then my timetable will be uselees.So I have to go to public library or school for revision.Cheer up everyone !It can't be as bad as all that.Exam is our target but don't feel too nervous otherwise we can't remember the thigs during exam.It's my own experience.By the way, I think we should have fun on Music Day just to enjoy the competition.Nighty-night.

I think about your words during the lesson after school that day and i think it 's really important for us to plan our timetable correctly or else there will be some troubles .
I would like to share my own timetable to all of you .( Can you take a look of it and check if it 's suitable for me or not ?) First , there are 11 days for us to play and study for our first term exam .

Last time ,I did really bad in 1st term test because I spent too much time on my electives.However,they were not counted in average marks.So this time I will not neglect those compulsory subjsct or balance them wisely.Therefore,I have set a timetable for myself to follw so that I will not waste time on other things.From my plan, I will spend no more than 3 days for playing beause I should save more time to study.Moreover,I will go to library's study room because my mother always talks with me,I can not study well at home.

I think that we need to study during our Christmas holiday is very poor but I know if we don’t work hard, we will not get a good mark. Therefore, I will use no more than three days to play, and I will use most of the time for study, here is my plan.
I know that I am the one who cannot study at home so I plan that I will go to library or may be I can study with a classmate that who can teach me when there are something I don’t know! Moreover, I know I am very weak at maths and English so I will use around three to four day for study these two subjects. CHS and CHL are also difficult, I will use two days to study. oh, there are also LS, it’s very important, I need to prepare it for three days too! I think everyone in our class will work very hard in this exam.For myself, I think I will spend two or three days on playing with my friends, although I think they are not enough, I will stop playing and begin to study.

Back to word,I can feel the pressure of the first term exam since the first day of Dec.When i was study,i found it is hard to have a good plan on time spended.Like your advice,I have tried to spend some time and plan a timetable that i think is suitible to me.But after some time,i would forget abt the plan.Sometimes i would spend too much time on one subject:(.

Last time, i didn't get a good mark on the main subject, I spent a lot of time on ICT because I recited all the passages. I know I must study well on the main subject first. It will affect my position. But when I start to work, I just want to study ICT because I really really want to get a very high marks. I think I must change the way of revisions.
This holiday, I will spend three days to play (24,25,31). But I know I will not concentrate on the revisions next day. So, there is one more problem that I need to solve.

ReplyDeleteAfter experiencing the 1st term test,I know there is difficulty,it's not easy and only pratising,moreover,we should read more books to learn extra knowledges.
In the following exam,I will do revision as my plan:
1.spend at least 2 days on revising each subjet.
2.only going out 3 days (26,31 maybe)
3.jot notes and study again before testing
Of course,that's not the best method,we should have pratised everyday after school.Do you think I am boasting?No No No!I've done that after 1st term test and that's why i am relaxing and can do less than others.
I know we should not only study before vacation.Get a stable studying timetable.That really benefits and you have time to ask teachers.

I'm sorry that I'm late to give feedback because I could not sign in my google account yesterday, hope you forgive me.
We all know that the first term exam is coming soon and we should study hard in the Christmas holiday. From the first term test, I knew I should improve my hand-writing, because I found that my hand-writing is very slow, by it, I had missed many questions and I was very regret of it.Now I have told myself that I should not make the same mistakes again.
Then let me talk about my plan in this holiday. Firstly, I know that I can't study at home as there are many things attract me, so that I should study outside, maybe at school or library. Secondly, I would spend 2 or 3 days for going outside to enjoy my holiday. Eventually, I would spend some times to improve my hand-writing, like writing an essay in half an hour, hope that it could help me to write more faster.

Ather the 1st term test, I was really get hurt on my result, I don't think I am hard-working, but at least I don't think I will failed my core subject, especially－ ENGLISH
Now, the 1st exam is coming, I feel confusing, I don't know what I am going to do...
During the lesson, I just day dreaming, sometimes will sleep too.
I know that I must not be this attitude, unfortunately, no one tell me what should I do...
I don't know what I will do during the holiday, you said, "you should only going out 2 days, if not, you will not have enough time to prepare the exam." However, I plan that I will going out 3 days, it not mean half a day, is whole day!!
So I think my result of this exam will not very good, but I will try my best to prepare it.
Hope you will not feel disappointed after you see my result..

After I read your article, I think our class is a really dynamic class!!But after the exciting basketball and football class competition, I believe it's the time for us to think about our first term exam.
In the christmas holiday, it's really harsh time.In this long holiday, we've to revise in all the holiday. I hope I can pass through it. And I've already plan for my christmas holiday.
Everyday, I would wake up at half past six(the time when did I wake up in school time), I think it good for my health and it can ensure that I would not waste too many time. And I would revise earnest for about six hours everyday for my exam. In the other time, I would use to do exercise and do something that I can not do in school time.For example,learn other language, play guitar and relax.
I think I would not waste any time in this holiday and I want use this holiday plenarily.And I hope my exam will have good result.

First, I plan to go back the mainland on Tuesday(20/12) and come back on Thursday(22/12).
After going back the mainland , I will study the subjects.First ,I will spend 2~3 days to study BAFS .Then ,I will study English which using about 3 days. I also plan to have a break on Sunday(25/12).After the Christmas day , I will study other subjects.It is the end of my planning.
P.S Next Monday is The "Music Day".Someone may say we must get the 1st winner .However,I hope we can also enjoy the music.If you can enjoy the music, You will get a surprise on that day.

Anyway,again, glad to see that everyone has well set his/her goal ! Let's show ourselves you are going to keep your words !
Among all of you, Siu Fan and Tin Long got good approach by emphasizing the effectiveness and efficiency of waking up early and working in the morning ! It doesn't really matter how many hours you exactly spend on revision every day, what matters is the quality ! If you can concentrate well, 6 hours is more than enough than spending a whole day daydreaming or struggling !!
Chin Man should also boast what she has been doing since, at the same time, she's sharing a wonderful method with us and she has so far proved its effectiveness as her results have been improving a lot these years.
I think Evan and Mei Ying are two typical examples we can learn from. Evan finds it difficult to manage her time well as it's easy to get stuck to one subject an forget the schedule while Mei Ying finds it hard to concentrate both at school and at home. For the former case, we have to learn to set a reasonable and feasible scope for ourselves to finish every time. That means, even if we haven't finished everything, we should still move on to the next topic/subject and tell yourself you can go back to it later. If not, all the other subjects will be adversely affected. (Of course, that's why it's important to arrange the revision order of the subjects !)
And Mei Ying is facing the problem which many students are suffering. There is no other way better than setting a target for yourself and asking yourself what you want to achieve one year or even three years later as you will reap what you sow !
Wish you all a happy and memorable holiday and before that, enjoy our Class Day and Musci Day ! Leo and Josie are right to say that winning is never our ultimate goal but the process ! Imagine what you will have got three years later ?!
